Flocked Backgrounds Using Deco Foil Transfer Gel DUO

Can't believe the Card Maker Success Summit is in just a couple of days!! I'm so terribly excited, I just can't stand it! Therm-o-Web is one of the summit's sponsors and they sent out some goodies for me to try out.
**Spoiler Alert**
They are giving a bundle giveaway during the summit that contains some of the products I used in this project. See details at the end of this blog post.
Let's talk about the Card Maker Success Summit

Something I've become more and more passionate about over the last two years is getting a game plan to create my holiday cards early in the season.
As I became a card maker a few years ago, I started creating Christmas cards for all of my friends and family. Soon they came to expect awesome WOW type Christmas cards, so the pressure was on.
I found that I was waiting until the last minute to create the cards and it put so much stress on me. So I decided to get a game plan and start my holiday card making project earlier in the season. It’s never early to start your card making projects of any kind, particularly holiday cards.
And through that journey, I’ve found that I love helping card makers do the same. That is, to get inspired to start their Christmas Card-Making project early and gain confidence by learning from 25+ awesome card makers experts.
That's why I'm so excited to bring this free 4-day event to you!
You can learn absolutely everything you’d ever want to know about the summit over here, but as a quick overview:
- The summit will run from July 15th through July 18th.
- Each day will be packed with amazing speakers who are ready to help you create a card making plan that will minimize stress, let you get your cards done early and create beautiful professional hand crafted cards that will WOW your friends and family.
- We’ve got a pop-up Facebook group where you’ll find crafting friends, connect with other card makers, ask the speakers questions, and whatever else we come up with!
- You can attend the summit absolutely free, but you can choose to grab the VIP All-Access Pass at any time during the summit. The VIP All-Access Pass will give you an all inclusive pass to the summit (meaning you get all the videos for life or at least until my Stamp Me Some Love business is around).
The VIP All-Access Pass is currently being offered at a special price, and it will disappear for good once the summit is over, so start thinking about now!
Are you excited?! (I sure am!)
Head over to the website to learn more and grab your free ticket. More information will be sent straight to your inbox afterwards.

Card Details
I have to say, when Therm-o-Web said they were sending me flock, I actually had no idea what they were talking about. Sure I have been a long time user of their toner sheets, deco foils, and not to mention their Pixie Spray... But I have never heard or worked with flock.
When it arrived I was so excited to tear it out of the box! The flock sheets are like mini sheets of velvet! Think of those 70's velvet paintings of Elvis!

I had never seen a tutorial on how to create using flock but the instructions on the label was pretty clear.
I decided to use a stencil and their Deco Foil Transfer Gel DUO. I've used the Duo Gel before with stencils but instead of flock, I used their Deco Transfer Foils. You can find another blog post here on the card shown here to the side.

The stencil I used was a 6x6 stencil, so I cut a card stuck panel (Ballerina Pink) to slighly bigger than 6x6.
Then I sprayed the stencil with the Pixie Spray so that it would stay down on the card front.
Using a spatula and the Stencil Pal, I added the Duo Gel to the stencil and scrapped off the excess back into the jar.

Then I gently pulled back the stencil to reveal the design. The gel will be white when it is wet, but drys clear and tacky. I set my card panel to the side overnight to dry but I think you could come back to it in a couple of hours.
Once the design was dry, I trimmed off the excess paper that had any tacky bits of gel. This is so that when I run it through the laminator, it won't stick to my transfer paper.
Next, make sure the laminator is nice and hot. I leave mine on for about 20 before using it. I placed the fuzzy side down onto the tacky design and put that in a folded transfer sheet. Then feed it folded side first through the laminator.

Then I pulled back the transfer sheet and... Viola! The fuzzy flock was adheared to the tacky gel and the negative space showed the card stock beneath it.
It's kind of hard to tell in the pictures, but the Ballerina Pink color cardstock and the Ruby Red Flock really go well together. The cardstock came out looking more white than pick in the photo.
Then to finish the sentiment, I die cutted the word Thanks 3 times with our Black Suede cardstock and glued them together. This gave the die cut more heft to it and dimension.
I glued that down with Tombow Mono Liquid glue and finished the card off with some glossy black rhinestones.
I think it came out super cute and will definitely be using more flock in my stash soon! Keep your eye's peeled for a couple of other cards that I created this weekend with more flock!
