My Card Details

For this card, I wanted to make a fuzzy background and decided to give the new product, Marshmallow Paste  from Maker Forte a try.  I'm glad I did! It gave my card an old fashioned look.  Kind of reminds me of those old felt stockings we used to get as kids.

Step By Step Instructions

Create the background

I used Marker Forte's Candy Cane stencil to create the background.  Using some Pixie Spray, I adhered the stencil down to the card stock (color: Roller Skate) and used a palette knife to spread a thin layer of the Marshmallow Paste down.

When you are finished spreading the paste, gently lift up the stencil.  Quickly wash the stencil so the paste doesn't dry on it and makes a mess of your stencil.

Then come back to your card panel and use a heat gun to heat up the paste.  Before your eyes you will see the paste puff up like marshmallows! After I let it dry for a bit,  I trimmed the card background to 5.25″ x 4.0″ and then adhere it the Top Folding Card Base.

Color the Stamps

I used the Christmas Cookies stampset by Maker Forte in this design.  I used the following Copic Markers to color the letters.

Reds

Whites

Next fussy cut the design out.  Try to cut as close to the black outline as possible.

PRO-TIP

To eliminate the extra white showing up after fussy cutting, run a marker along the side of the paper.  This helps fix any mistakes you made when fussy cutting.

Then use Maker Forte's Color Hive Water Based Ink Pad to stamp your sentiment.

(Not Shown Here)

Use your favorite white embossing powder with the black card stock (Color: Eclipse – Maker Forte) and heat it up.  Trim the sentiment to have a banner tag.

Next use the Rainbow Craft Pick from Maker Forte to apply some double side foam squares to the card back ground where the marshmallow paste is not showing.

And lastly! Admire your work!
