Color Me Happy SVG File Card

I was asked recently from Scrapbook.com to create a project using one of their newly released digital cut files. Below I will show the simple rainbow card card I made with the Color Me Happy cut file, share some tips I learned along the way, and share the supplies I used to make the card.

Tips to Making this simple Color Me Happy Cut File card
To create this card, I had to prepare the SVG file from Scrapbook.com. I have the Basic Edition of Silhouette Studio (SS) and you can not directly upload an SVG file to Basic Edition SS. I had a small work around to get the SVG into my SS.
After downloading the SVG file, I opened it into Adobe Illustrator. From there, I exported it as a .DXF file type. This file type is accepted in the Basic Edition SS software. You can find a video tutorial on how to do this on another blog post of mine.
Once I had it in the SS, I made a few minor adjustments. The file image is a little big for my A2 size card, so I selected the entire image and resized it down to 5.25″ x 4.00″. All of the cut out dots were the same size, so I choose each individual dot and resized them into random sizes.
When I cut the design out the first time, I was not getting a clean cut on the front side of the card. Some of the paper was crunching up, but when I looked at the back side, it look nice and clean. So before I cut it again, I went into SS and flipped the image using the mirror tool. So the card would be cut in a backwards version. The top side of card came out with small paper crunches, but the back side (which was the correct side for reading) came out clean. This trick worked great!
After I cut the design out with black cardstock, then I blended some distressed ink in a rainbow pattern across Neenah cardstock. This is the order in which I blended the colors.
I loved the way the rainbow colors were vibrant on the paper!
Next adhere the outline cut out to directly to your paper you just blended ink to. I used my reverse tweezers to hold and place the small pieces that go in the “O”s , “R”, “A” and “P”s.
Then adhere the card front to some foam tape to give it some dimension off your card base. Once that is done, I embellished with some gloss drops. I choose colors of gloss drops that look very similar in color to the distressed ink. It gave it kind of a tone on tone look.
This card was super simple to make!
